Using pay per click advertising is the system of choice for many internet based companies to receive large amounts of traffic to their website in a short space of time. Advertising on the Internet is still a developing art but so far this method has come out on top of the others that are used. The concept is simple; by placing a text advertisement with a link to your site on a larger website that is very busy, you can direct traffic to visit yours. When a visitor does click through to your site, they must stay for more than ten seconds for the previous (hosting) site to be paid, albeit a very small amount.
The only way this system works is by placing adverts on sites that have content relevant to what you are advertising, otherwise it would be a complete waste of time and money. One of the most obvious advantages to pay per click is that you will only pay when people come to your site, that is, when the ad is used.
Rather than paying for a month’s worth of advertisements that might bring you no clients, here, you will only pay when people notice the advertisement and then go on to your site. In the past there were many complaints about bills being run up by competitors clicking on an advert link but that is not the case. The advantage of this pay per click system is just how directed the advertising is and of course, more effective use of a marketing budget. People who see your ad are already interested in the product or service you are promoting.
The largest and best known of these pay per click services is Google with their Adwords program. Google simply creates your advert every time a term or phrase (which you specify) is searched for online through their search system. When you see the results page on entering your search term, you may see the advert at the top of Google’s results or on the right had column.
These instant results cannot be beaten in any other advertising medium and it is that attracts pay per click customers. When the ad goes up, you will have a good idea as to whether or not it is effective. This is still the most popular method of marketing because it works and most companies, large and small will use pay per click advertising as a standard method to market themselves.
